Today's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (YRKKH) 5th September 2023 episode starts with Abheer and Ruhi dozing off while sitting and Manjari and Swarna sympathise with them for feeling tired after an eventful day. 

Meanwhile, Swarna recalls the sweets she has brought and Akshara offers to go and get them.

Akshara Becomes the Target of Prejudiced People

After a while, Manish and Kairav witness the neighbour taking the sweets plates from Akshara and telling her to take care of some other work.

On the other hand, Abhimanyu is berating himself when Shefali comes there asking him what has happened between him and Akshara.

Abhimanyu looks astonished at the astute guess and tells her that he has mentioned their past while talking in a flow.

Meanwhile, Shefali tells him to go and tell his feelings to Akshara so that she can get clarity or else Abheer will also suffer. 

Later, Abhimanyu comes to Akshara and finds the same woman taking over veneration thali decoration from her.  

As the clock strikes twelve, Manish wishes everyone Happy Janmashthmi and Swarna tells Akshara to untie the curtain. 

As Akshara is about to do that, the neighbour tells Akshara to stay put and they will do the honours. 

Everyone looks stunned at the suggestion while Manish asks them why are they doing this while Abhimanyu asks them why they are not letting Akshara do the work since morning. 

One of the women tells Abhimanyu that Akshara cannot take part in the veneration as she has been recently widowed and that it is inauspicious for a widow to be a part of any veneration.

Meanwhile, Manish tells them that it is inauspicious for women with orthodox and prejudiced thinking to be a part of this veneration. 

The women gets rude and tell Manish that if they want to be modern then they can but they have no right to disregard the rituals of the veneration. 

They also comment on Akshara parading herself as a happy person despite her husband’s recent death. 

Akshara Challenges Women's Prejudice

Before these women can say more, Akshara asks them where is it written that a widow cannot be a part of festivities and venerations. 

She challenges them to show her a single line in any religious scripture.

The women tell Akshara that they do not know all that but know the rituals and traditional values while Akshara tells them to update their values that are made by people and not God. 

On being told that they are only stopping her from committing a sin, Akshara tells them that the sin is to stop a woman from being happy after her husband dies or to make a widow's life difficult by harassing her.

On seeing those people determined to follow their blind traditions, Akshara tells them that she would do her veneration somewhere else.  

Abheer and Ruhi wake up just as Akshara is about to leave and capture her hands.

Gradually all her family members join Akshara while Swarna tells them that if this curtain is untied then only Akshara will untie it or else no one will untie it. 

The neighbour tells them that they are stubborn despite looking gentlemanly, while Kairav tells them that it is their gentlemanliness that they are talking politely. 

Akshara tells Manish to let these people be as she does not want to cause a delay in the veneration and will conduct her veneration elsewhere. 

Abhimanyu tells her that if she will go then they will also leave with her. 

Lord Krishna Favours Akshara

The neighbour audaciously tells them that they are not asking anyone to leave but only asking Akshara to watch from afar. 

As the woman goes to untie the curtain, it gets stuck and Abheer brings Akshara to untie the curtain as she is a true devotee. 

As Akshara pulls the rope, it gets untangled smoothly and surprises everyone. 

Meanwhile, Abheer tells everyone that the knot would not have opened so easily if God did not want her to untie the curtain. 

Abhimanyu also tells them that they have no personal grudge against them but they have a problem with their prejudiced and baseless thinking.
